Democrats Are Not for the Working Class

I grew up in a financially “upper lower class” family, which gradually moved up to a “lower middle class” family, because of my father’s hard work. He was a Teamster. And I guarantee that he would not have voted for Kamala-Walz.

And he would not have been alone. For the first time in more than two decades, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters did not endorse the Democratic candidate for president. They chose to endorse no one, which is a significant problem for Democrats.

The Democratic Party has veered so far to the left that it is losing working class voters.

There’s a good reason for this. The Teamster leadership was stunned to learn that almost 60 percent of its rank-and-file membership had indicated they were going to vote for Trump over Harris. She’s just too radical for the working class. They don’t trust her and part of the cause is Harris refuses to do real interviews or hold an unscripted press conference. Maybe they’re concerned that she is hiding something and being controlled by others.

They, and other working-class Americans, are fed up with established political elites, academia, brain-dead Hollywood stars, and the media who live in bubbles of progressive ideology and out of touch with hard-working average men or women.

The Democratic Party was once considered the party of the poor and disenfranchised. Not anymore. It has become the party of the super-rich and special interests, which they accuse Republicans of being.

As Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. recently posted: “Paycheck-to-paycheck voters were once the rank and file of the Democratic Party. Now they are abandoning it and with good reason.”

He’s right. The Democratic Party has changed course. They speak primarily to the college-educated, urban dwellers and the affluent. They are arrogant and pedantic. They pander to young voters with things like student loan forgiveness plans that ignore the majority of the country without a four-year degree.

This particular plan is egregious to me. Why should working-class people pay for anyone else’s tuition? I recall Elizabeth Warren being confronted by a man who said he worked double shifts to pay for his daughter’s college tuition and asked, “Will I get a refund?” I don’t recall what she replied, but whatever it was, it wasn’t sufficient because there was no sensible answer.

Democrats are no longer the party of the people—they never really were, And it goes back to Woodrow Wilson. - see my blogs on him at my website: www.FrankVictoriaAuthor.com.

I started this blog talking about my father. He and all of my family members lived through the Great Depression and were FDR diehard Democrats. That changed during the 70’s as that party moved further and further to the left. They wouldn’t recognize the Democratic Party today. Heck, I don’t even recognize it.
