I was 18-years old — back when dinosaurs roamed the earth — when I enlisted in the military. If I were 18 today, I’m not altogether sure I would sign up. It’s not that I no longer love this country. I do. Fervently. Even though so many of the ideals which made America great have been damaged or even demolished by leftist politicians, academics and brain-dead Hollywood stars.
Under democratic leadership headed by President Joe Biden, the American military has turned into a petri dish of social experimentation. Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) is the chief case in point. For openers, note that DEI projects under Biden have gone from $68 million in 2022 to a whopping $114 million in 2024. How much ammunition and rifles would that money have bought? I could have paid for about six M1A2 Abrams tanks or 200 Predator drone missiles.
The U.S. military and the Pentagon have put DEI programming of our current and prospective warriors ahead of real military readiness. A year-long study by the Arizona State University Center for American Institutions (CAI) verified this. The study shows that DEI hinders efficiency through “racial and sex-based scapegoating and stereotyping.”
Matt Lohmeier, a former space force commander, said “The fact that a record number of young people are declining to enlist in the military is not surprising. As this thorough report demonstrates, DEI indoctrination has become an essential part of military training, starting for officers even at the service academies. If our warfighters lack mission concentration and are more fragmented and preoccupied with ideology, how can we be ready to face our enemies?”
The indoctrination starts when prospective officers report to their different academies. DEI offices mentor and assist “affinity groups” based on gender and race. Students engage in “eyes and ears” activities to monitor each other and report any potential violations of DEI.
Outside of the CAI research, there are more documents that disclose the curriculum at U.S. military academies. Justice Watch, a conservative foundation, revealed the Air Force Academy is advocating critical race theory. The peer education program at the Naval Academy urges midshipmen to engage in required discussions about DEI with one another.
Could this be one reason why the Army, Navy, and Air Force failed to meet their recruitment targets in 2023. White recruits are the demographic whose numbers are continuously declining. At the start of 2024, the U.S. military had the lowest fighting force since World War II. According to the CAI report, asking military troops to “protect a nation that is an alleged cesspit of bigotry and discrimination” is the main issue with DEI brainwashing. You needn’t have served in the military to see that this will impede teamwork and unit cohesiveness.
One of Biden’s US Air Force generals testified before Congress last week. Congressional Republicans noted some recent Air Force training materials on “inclusive language” that airmen are supposed to use nowadays. Here are a few examples from the speech training:
Ask what someone’s pronoun s are. Include all genders when talking to people. Instead of saying, “You guys,”say “Y’all/Team/Squaddies/Everyone/Folks.” Use the term “partner” instead of “boyfriend/girlfriend.” Instead of saying “people with disabilities,” say “disabled people.” Instead of saying “transgenders,” servicemembers must say “transgender people.”
DEI must be obliterated. No more nonsense about “diversity is our strength.” Our strength is being able to kill the enemy. Civilian DEI personnel should be fired and any uniformed personnel in DEI slots are reassigned to real jobs.
We need real military leadership again. And that starts with a new commander-in-chief. And a new Secretary of Defense who will lead our military instead of managing it. He must get his message out immediately and forcefully. He has to be sure that his orders for reforming the military be quick and effective. And he must crush any resistance he gets without reluctance or pity. The Secretary of Defense must be a veteran, someone who has commanded soldiers.
We’ve also got to reform our military academies and war colleges. Their mission is to produce killers. Unfortunately, they often turn out to be incompetent, woke duds. Get rid of the heads of all the service schools and replace them with leaders who understand that their mission is to create fighters.
Our military should be based on merit so that the best fighting men and women in America, who have been trained to love their country, are ready to defend it at any time.
